Building a turtle pond
Turtle ponds are becoming increasingly more popular. So what is the difference between a turtle pond and a water garden or koi pond? First you have to look at the needs of the turtles. They tend to like to wander away so is it a good idea to have tall sides on the pond to keep them safe. They like deep areas to swim around. One of the biggest requirements is that they love to sun bathe so lots of flat rocks out of the water will help them to feel at home. It is important for them to dry out their shells so they stay healthy. If you would like them to breed you will need to have a sandy shallow area for them to lay their eggs.
